nendo organizes emergency kit essentials within a single, compact tube

in the aftermath of the great east japan earthquake on march 11th, 2011, everyone was reminded once again of the importance of being prepared in the occurrence of another natural disaster. recently, rather than resorting to the conventional emergency kits already available, people started to seek more versatile solutions for a diverse variety of situations. nendo has responded to this need by designing a survival kit that offers one the necessary tools to make it to a place of refuge during an earthquake or other type of emergency situation in the form of ‘MINIM+AID’. sported as a slim 5cm wide tube that is waterproof and floats, ‘MINIM+AID’ contains important objects such as: a whistle, radio, raincoat, lantern, drinking water, and a plastic case.

conceived for japanese brand sugita ace, the utility of ‘MINIM+AID’ is found in its radio device which is equipped with manual charging functionality, that can also be used to re-power your smartphone, lantern, or other devices via USB. it also contains a small plastic case that can stand as a method of carrying medicine or anything else one may deem necessary. the tube in which the drinking water foil pouch is stored can also function as a cup.

a physically slim and compact form makes nendo’s ‘MINIM+AID’ easy to carry or wear over one’s shoulder thanks to an included strap. it can be easily kept without obstruction near the entrance of your home, even in your umbrella stand or hung from a coat hanger, ready to go at all times.

‘MINIM+AID’ was presented during tokyo design week 2015.
