nendo: kandenchi mouse and megane stand for elecom

‘kandenchi’ wireless mouse all photos by hiroshi iwasaki

japanese design studio nendo continue their collaboration with PC and AV accessories company elecom with new products ‘kandenchi’, a wireless mouse, and ‘megane’ a smartphone stand.

the positive terminal of the ‘battery’ functions as the left-click button

taking the shape of a battery, ‘kandenchi’ (which means ‘battery’ in japanese) is a wireless computer mouse whose form is based on its own rechargeable nature. the positive terminal functions as the left-click button, while the scrolling wheel and right-click button are found on the side of the mouse. the compact design has been created to increase portability, allowing for vertical use in more limited work spaces such as during one’s travels on a plane or train etc. a detachable mini-USB cable allows users to plug the mouse into a mobile phone or other electronic devices for recharging, just like an ordinary battery.

‘megane’ smartphone stand

‘megane’ (‘glasses’ in japanese) is a smartphone stand which takes on the form of specs. the pair of glasses have a very simple construction: the arms can be unfolded for use of propping an iPad or iPhone, and folded when not, just like regular eyeglasses. the lenses are replaced with transparent cups to ensure electronic devices stay in place.
