in japan, a ‘zabuton’ is a cushion which is typically used for sitting on the floor, and occasionally for a chair. with this in mind, nendo has re-interpreted these upholstered pads into a contemporary furniture piece. his modern version comes  in the form of a futon-shaped lounge chair, with large, thick cushions pillows draped over its metal wire frame. the folds of the seating unit’s futon are extracted and poured into a polyurethane mould in order to form a pattern of more ‘controlled’ creases and tucks. developed for italian furniture company moroso, nendo’s ‘zabuton’ is available in three versions, allowing a choice of different armrests, and can be combined to create a larger seat. the collection also includes a chaise lounge, a sofa and dining chair.

  • Here were some comments -it’s bad- and -it’s a fail-. I saw db cut them off. I agree, comments should be more specific and try to point out a constructive criticism.
This design is everything Japanese, simple. just like nendo meant it to be.
I love the colors, materials and the patterns used.
