imm cologne 2017neri & hu‘s ‘lantern light’ for classicon draws upon italian designer vico magistretti’s 1977 ‘lyndon’ lamp through its minimal ethereal appearance. the elegant furniture piece which is presented at imm cologne 2017, is supported by a tubular brass structure which holds the light source in a harmonious state of tension.

‘vico magistretti designed a light in 1977 called ‘lyndon’ based on the idea of a structure holding a simple ball of light. the delicate glass bowl sets a contrast to the minimalist approach to its base pursuing the idea of being read as a cloud. to commemorate the tenth year of his death, we selected the lyndon light to pay homage to the designer and created a light in the same spirit.’neri & hu

‘in our everyday existence, light serves us by enhancing everything around it, while it is often neglected itself. here, the inspiration comes from the quintessential source of light; like its ancient predecessor, the fiery torch, this design simply consists of an upright rod with an illuminated tip. celebrating the glorious spectacle of light itself, the tinted glass shade is a modest attachment that branches off the main support to gently shield its centerpiece.’neri & hu

neri & hu’s ‘lantern light’ table and floor lamp for classicon is on show at imm cologne from the 16th to sunday, 22th january 2017.
