arising from the enthusiasm of its creators as parents of two, nido muebles comprises a line of furniture and accessories designed and manufactured in mexico, which seeks to provide answers to real parenting needs with safety, function, and play as its fundamental parameters. the latest piece to join its collection of cribs, chairs, storage furniture, and accessories, is moisés nido colgante, a hanging bassinet handwoven in tequisquiapan using 100% natural wicker. a leather hanging system and a memory foam mattress complete the oval-shaped piece. the structure of its base allows for easy movement, while the bassinet can later be reused, as a basket for toys and other items.

earlier creations include a collaboration with mexican designer christian vivanco, whose ‘traven’ collection comprises an armchair, stool, and toybox made in wicker, certified wood, handmade wool, and natural finishes. the series is named after a short story called ‘baskets in series’ by writer bruno traven, which refers to the relationship between craft and the industry of contemporary consumption. the collection seeks to resolve some of the everyday moments of a contemporary family, while also recognizing the importance of fun when using furniture with large volumes and simple shapes that propose a variety of scenarios where children could act out a different experience.

caravana americana is a mexican fair that promotes contemporary latin american design internationally while offering a platform for local brands to exchange experiences and knowledge. the fair takes place twice a year – once in march and once in october, as well as in june with a special resort edition – bringing together a curated selection of the best of latin america’s emerging fashion, object, jewelry and furniture brands.
