the new NIKE lunar force 1 sees the classic sneaker updated with lunarlon cushioning and a hyperfuse construction.

the air force one has been at the heart of street, sport and court culture for three decades. to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the air force one NIKE has launched several new iterations of the shoeand opened a pop-up shop, the ‘pivot point’ located in the barclays center, brooklyn until december 23, 2012.

lunar force onethe most significant update of the shoe is the the NIKE lunar force , which is redesigned from the inside out. lunarlon cushioning in the midsole and outsole features trademark lunarlon beveled ribs, enhancing flexibility and reducing the shoe’s weight. a NIKE zoom air-sole unit remains in the heel for superior comfort and reactivity. simultaneously, NIKE’s hyperfuse construction transforms the upper with its unique unibody construction that fuses three layers —one for stability, one for breathability and one for durability—into one revolutionary, lightweight composite. in addition, the advanced design’s minimized seams mean less rub, while its distinct look allows for new embellishments and colorways.

subtle refinements, including a slimmed toe box (reinforced to minimize signs of wear) and trimmed rubber outsole (cut from seven to five millimeters), further drop the weight of the NIKE lunar force 1 from the original 17.56 ounces to just 11.7 ounces.  calculated details, like an internal bootie, mean a superior fit without cinched laces. additional understated distinctions such as a reflective swoosh, underscore the new design while the classic sneaker’s integrity and signature silhouette remain intact.

family of forcethe lunar force one is just one of the new ‘family of force’ – five distinct versions of the shoe that each re-interpretthe design in distinctly different ways:

NIKE af1

NIKE af1tapping the u.s. presidential plane for its name, the NIKE af1 debuted in 1982. the first NIKE basketball sneaker with air technology, it looked fresh while delivering a game-changing, comfortable on- and off-court ride. thirty years later, it remains the pinnacle of street and sport, court and culture.

NIKE lunar force 1

NIKE lunar force 1propelling the powerful legacy of the NIKE af1 into the future, the NIKE lunar force 1 takes core inspiration from principles of lightweight, breathability and comfort. a signature lunarlon sole unites with an air-sole heel unit for unrivaled support and reactivity, while hyperfuse construction further transforms the sneaker’s trademark style.

NIKE af1 foamposite

NIKE AF1 foampositerevolutionary in form and function, the NIKE af1 foamposite takes inspiration from both the NIKE AF1and the organic, firm outer shell of the NIKE air flightposite. composed of a seemingly seamless upper, the biomechanical sneaker fuses the wearer and its innovative sole—comprising superior cushioning and an encapsulated air-sole heel unit—into one sinuous silhouette.

NIKE AF1 boot

NIKE af1 bootboldly taking on the elements, NIKE af1 boots transport the NIKE af1 out of its urban domain into all-weather terrain. infusing the NIKE af1’s signature silhouette with the protective fundamentals and scooped collar of traditional duckboots, the sturdy shoes also imbue their supremely comfortable sole with an encapsulated air-sole heel unit and tenacious grip that tackles any environment.

NIKE af1 downtown

NIKE af1 downtownthe visual inverse of the original NIKE af1, nicknamed the uptown, the NIKE af1 downtown boasts a low-profile cupsole and streamlined silhouette. lightweight, with an encapsulated air-sole heel unit and discreet phylon midsole for durability, stability and cushioning, these sneakers may be understated but they claim just as much street cred as their predecessors.

NIKE af1 comfort

NIKE af1 comfortuniquely premium in terms of textiles and ride, the NIKE af1 comfort takes innovation and craftsmanship to the next level. the suede and leather upper imparts exclusivity while a lunarlon foam insole joins the drop-in midsole sockliner with encapsulated air-sole unit for lightweight, flexible cushioning. plus, trademark NIKE af1 details—metal dubrés, circular pivot points and crown-like vamp perforationsfurther elevate the low-key but legendary look.
