noah deledda creates unique sculptures out of ordinary objects — in this case, crushed aluminum cans. while many sculptors chisel curves and contours, deledda scratches, dents, and creases his pieces into something refined.

the reason he dents, the reason he scratches and creases ordinary objects can be summed-up by the words of famous philosophers — which he sets next to the sculptures on his website.

everything has its beauty. but not everyone sees it.

the aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.

scratching, denting and creasing happens naturally to cans. but here, noah deledda has turned these happenstance markings into intentionally-applied artistic principles. through repetition, scratching the can over and over creates a polishing affect. creasing conjure shapes. dents become depth. on the face of a useless can, symmetry, balance, and beauty are achieved.
