'notel' hosts guests in chrome airstream trailers on top of a melbourne parking lot

australia’s most anticipated rooftop accommodation has opened its doors atop a parking lot in the middle of melbourne’s central business district. ‘notel’ includes a series of five-star, fully renovated and restored 1970s airstreams that overlook the city center from above. entered through a single door hidden near a coffee shop, the hotel provides guests with a smart phone code that allows them access to the site, where they are greeted by six, shining chrome trailers set against a colorful mural by artist ash keating.

notel’s unique interiors have been thoughtfully designed by edwards moore architects, with development and planning by FMSA architecture and branding by self titled. the interior architecture of each airstream suite has been drawn from late 1970s science-fiction films like ‘logan’s run’ and ‘2001: a space odyssey’. each unit includes a queen size bed and a private ensuite bathroom, and is filled with abey bathroom products, crown posture mattress, attitude bamboo sheets and aura home bed linen and bathroom towels — all local melbourne businesses. each suite additionally features its own private deck, which opens onto a generously proportioned communal area great for hanging out and enjoying the sprawling views.
