nothing design group: 'the origin'

‘the origin’ basin by nothing design group

concept designed by korean studio nothing design group, the shape of ‘the origin’ basin is influenced by the curved form of the river. a small cobblestone controls the amount of water comes out from the source. also it function to block the drain.

  • Wow this is a great design, how can you make people rethink their water usage better than by this object?

Visit http://janinaloeve.nl/ for an other example from the dutch Design Academy Eindhoven.

    yede says:
  • yede, LOL

    modular says:
  • it is just a concept. A quick rinse of the hands is not possible with it.

  • At Arizona State University I have been in the ID program for 3 years and then the Sculpture program for 2 years.

    Has anyone else noticed this:

The ID students think/create like artists and the artists think/create like designers

This… sink… or whatever it’s supposed to be is a nice art project but, it is a worthless design.

    Battleshark says:
  • what excactly is this thing doing?

    tes says:
  • it must be art, cause it is not useful, just looks good

    gierek says:
  • looks like a path from the stomach to the pooper

    svenly says:
  • P.S.

I think I may have just hit on the best delineation/definition of Art v. Design:

    Design is demonstrably X

    Art is Subjectively X

X= That which embodies elements of Efficacy, Efficiency, Elegance, Etc…

(Forthwith to be known as “The Four ‘E’s”! Can you tell I’m a fan of alliteration? Ha!)
