oak and organic paper braid shape this dj deck that doubles as scandinavian furniture

Herter & Klarhoefer presents cord dj collection

Pioneer DJ, the world’s leading professional DJ equipment developer, has collaborated with Bolia to present an exclusive furniture series that bridges the worlds of DJing and Scandinavian design. The Cord DJ collection realized by Herter & Klarhoefer poses a deck and speaker system concealed within freestanding cabinets, blurring the lines between the dynamic energy of club culture with the soothing ambiance of home.

The design team as opted for the Japandi interior style, and crafted a series of models that integrate into both private homes and public places like exclusive boutique hotels, cocktail bars, or concept stores. Utilizing natural materials, the cabinets are crafted from solid oak and organic paper braid, concealing within them hidden cable management systems for a refined finish.

an organic expression of japandi design

The Cord DJ collection serves as a conduit for creativity, inspiring music enthusiasts to express their artistic inclinations through new means of technology and design. Rooted in the shared design philosophies of Japan and Denmark, the Cord DJ collection unites principles of simplicity, intricate craftsmanship, organic contours, natural materiality, and muted tones. This fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian design traditions, often referred to as the Japandi interior style, finds its expression in features like the braided paper cords which aesthetically house the speakers and optimizes sound flow.

The collection is imagined by Berlin-based design duo, Hertel & Klarhoefer, and brought to life by European artisans who have handcrafted each piece natural and certified materials — such as solid oak and organic paper braid. All Cord DJ models will be available in a natural edition with an organic and authentic expression, and in a black stained edition with a more sophisticated and vibrant finish. With invisible cable management and curated storage solutions, the design seamlessly integrates with the latest Pioneer DJ equipment. The Cord DJ 1-unit aligns with the new Pioneer DJ Opus Quad stand-alone system, while the Cord DJ 2-deck configuration is designed for two Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000 and one DJM-A9. The Cord DJ 4-deck is optimized for four Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000 and one DJM-A9.
