OBJECT by lauren manoogian is a capsule collection of artisanal peruvian ceramic forms

OBJECT is an edit of artisanal peruvian ceramic forms collected by brooklyn-based designer lauren manoogian. predominantly sourced in northern peru from a san martín community where ceramics are traditionally and exclusively made by women, the first series in OBJECT presents a capsule of twelve one-off forms. each piece is constructed and finished by hand, before being wood-fired in an open environment. native clay is manually extracted from local areas as are all pigments, while finishes employ a variety of traditional techniques.

a white dry surface texture is achieved through the application of green banana pulp and copal (tree resin), which highlights underlying structural and decorative textures; while smooth surfaced pieces are finished with naturally colored slip and burnished by hand. traditionally these forms are used in everyday living, but due to the non-commercial methods and natural materials involved in production, it is advised that usage is limited to aesthetic display purposes only. due to the specialized nature of OBJECT, more product details about the collection are available on lauren manoogian’s website here.
