old guitars get new life with sustainable bluetooth speaker kit by FOUND:ling reusery

FOUND:ling Reusery’s speaker design reuses unplayable guitars

Ryan Mischkulnig, founder and director of FOUND:ling Reusery, breathes new life into old, unused guitars with Re-Tuned, a Bluetooth speaker module kit. This kit is crafted to fit into the sound hole of most full-sized acoustic guitars and many 3/4-sized models, transforming them into high-quality Bluetooth speakers. By repurposing guitars as the speaker’s acoustic chamber, the kit reduces waste, while all parts are designed for easy repair and upgrade, ensuring longevity. Re-Tuned aims to be one of the most sustainable Bluetooth speaker kits available, promising to replace all plastic components with recycled milk bottle caps, if the project meets its funding goal.

Re-Tuned module kit is designed for easy installation

Re-Tuned by FOUND:ling Reusery includes a 20W Apt-X compatible Bluetooth amplifier, a 2.5″ (6.35 centimeters) speaker, and a cover plate. It’s designed for easy installation—the users just remove the strings, slide the module into the sound hole, secure it with the built-in clamps, screw on the cover, and connect the power supply. With over 1.8 million acoustic guitars sold annually in the USA alone, many eventually become unplayable. The product designer’s speaker module provides a way to give these instruments a second life. The kit by the Australian-based store is currently in pre-production, with pre-orders opening on September 6th (find more here).
