for the 2020 spring/summer prada womenswear show in milan, AMO designed a vibrant and colorful geometric runway that enfolded across the hall of the fondazione prada’s deposito. the studio used ceramic tiles to deck the venue’s concrete shell with an array of patterns, infused by a summery glow that illuminated a series of columns covered in gold leaf.

AMO — OMA’s research studio — colored the industrial interior of the warehouse with naive off-pastels, perhaps a nod to wes anderson whose museum show previously opened at the prada complex. a series of square-shaped seats were interwoven with the floor motif, wrapping around the run-way stage and set with a navajo-style pattern to define a series of terraces that overlooked one another.
AMO used a stepped platform as an architectural device that serves as balcony and belvedere overlooking an installation that for the first time occupies the entire grandness of the hall. the geometric setting is surrounded by a wall that runs along the parameter that also mediates the industrial character of the hall. during the show, models walked the cartesian trajectories of the floor pattern, emerging from the public that was gathered in the balmy light of an indoor sunset.
