vancouver-based architect omer arbel has sent designboom images of one of his latest developments, ’46 water street’. the project scope includes a seismic upgrade and restoration of a heritage building in vancouver’s historic gastown district. the interior loft project is organized around a new courtyard open to above, inserted into the fabric of the space, allowing for an abundance of light into the centre of the very deep plan. all other interior elements are rendered using machined elements, conceived to stand in strong contrast to the rough original framework of the existing shell.
