vancouver-based design practice omer arbel office has produced numerous lighting fixtures and installations. among their designs is the ‘28.0 series light fixtures’ made using a special glass blowing technique, where air is repeatedly blown in and then sucked out of heated and then cooled glass. the result of this process are distorted spheres with small LED lights placed inside. the ‘14.0 series pendant lamp’ is a similar design made using cast glass spheres with frosted cylindrical voids. inside these voids halogen lights are inserted to provide a diffused light. contrasting these lights is the porcelain ‘21.0 series lighting’ which takes inspiration from barnacle formations on rocks. the lights use raw white porcelain wrapped around frosted borosilicate glass cones. this unique design provides two types of light and ensures each light is completely unique.
