ONDU has been making pinhole cameras for the last two years, but the founder elvis halilović has started making the first cameras back in 2006. in 2013 they started with the first range of ONDU pinhole cameras that included 5 cameras. after collaborating with the world pinhole camera community and backers worldwide they redesigned and improved the cameras both visually and functionally. a pinhole camera uses a tiny hole to project an image onto photographic material and because of that small hole, the images created with this type of camera can not be replicated with any lens based camera.

the cameras are made at ONDU workshop by elvis and his brother benjamin. they use first grade walnut and maple wood locally harvested and FSC certified in the construction of their cameras and the finished product is protected with a mixture of beeswax and natural oils that they produce themselves. the pinhole cameras use magnets to hold the back in place and hold tension on film while winding it, there are also 2 magnets that work together with the shutter to make exposing simple and free of vibrations. there are a total of 14 magnets that work together to make this a simple and functional camera.

the 120mm cameras run smoother while winding, thanks to a guide pin that holds the film in place. this alleviates the tension and prevents scratches on the film. the viewing ports for the 120mm film have been enlarged and chamfered to make frame counting easy. there are ten different cameras in the range, going from the smallest ‘135 pocket’ to be used by beginners all the way to the giant eight by ten inch pinhole camera aimed at professional large format enthusiasts. for purchase information check out their kickstarter page.
