ooomydesign: cassette tape lamps

ooomydesign‘s cassette tape lamps are the latest designs to explore the popular 80’s music format. designer vanessa moreno uses plastic zip ties and second-hand tapes to make them. vanessa will present her lamps along with other works at our upcoming designboom mart copenhagen at CODE fair from august 27th to 30th, 2009.

a few years back designboom looked at the increasing use of cassette tapes in design in our piece ‘cassette tape culture‘. there is also a fresh batch of cassette tape wallets available to buy from the designboom shop.

  • great re-use of material. would love to see them turn on/off with a play/pause button and dim with a volume dial – all from an old sony walkman.
