portability, practicality and comfort come together for the design of ostrich pillow light, a plush, transportable sleeping unit that fits around around your head, acting as a cozy mask for a public nap. following the success of the original ostrich pillow, designer kawamura-ganjavian of studio banana things wanted to conceive a streamlined and approachable model for commuters and frequent flyers, while maintaining the product’s unique appearance. urban travelers spend an average of 1 hour each day transporting to and from work, and studies show that a 20 minute power nap can increase productivity by more than 30%;  the snug face bumper is a perfect way to benefit from useless transit time.

the quirky cushion is filled with silent, silicon coated micro-beads for sound reduction and buoyancy, and an adjustable elastic ring allows power-nappers all of sizes to use it comfortably. the soft fabric padding that surrounds the inside of the napping device is available in two color variations: original blue and red. ostrich pillow light is currently seeking funding on kickstarter, and you can support the project here

  • This is an amazing product. I need it!

    Roberto says:
  • It’s already april “Fool’s Day” ?
    Good joke.

    Cristian Chelaru says:
  • Nice idea.
Doesn’t the fabric (95% viscose, 5% elastomero) plus the filling make you sweat?

    Bruno de Paris says:
  • Simply amazing product with great utility.

    Nicky says:
  • looks like the michelin man strangling you or sitting on your head. does this beat just wearing sunglasses and a hoodie over your head? and is banana things a good name for a design studio?

    sinistra says:
  • For “design” executions by firing squad looks perfect.

    Natalia says:
  • ‘Damn! I missed my stop, someone’s stolen all my stuff and my make-up is all over the place! Stupid ostrich pillow!’…

    Davide says:
  • In a subway it looks a bit silly and would make you feel vulnerable, but why not use it in cars and planes?
The thing is exactly what I always missed when trying to take a nap: banging your head against the window glass, or breaking your neck in the gap between the seat and wall (loosing the small and useless airplane pillows).
Make it even FATTER and noise reducing.
Combine it with a neck support.
    Very good thinking!

    Dirk16 says:
  • Really a great idea for flying. I agree that the nice bulk of the product is what has been missing when I want to rest my head against the bulkhead of the jet.
I would definitely not want to wear this on a more public conveyance though. I am too self-conscious and would feel extremely vulnerable.

    Ron Smith says:
  • Good idea, where can I buy this pillow?
