copenhagen-based out-sider is scandinavia’s most challenging supplier of urban street furniture. in 2015 they invited the danish firm holscher design to participate in their design competition to create a bench set for the future and they won. the winning proposal was primarily selected for its graphic and iconic basic form, yet it was also a cohesive, innovative piece of furniture featuring a large number of seats facing one another. after a couple of minor adjustments, ‘plateau’ was created in 2016.

‘plateau’ by holscher design for out-sider is basically a table surrounded by an integrated bench that invites and generates social interactions. its graphic, minimalist expression is rooted in scandinavian design traditions. it works indoors as well as outdoors, and the clever cloning of the rectangular and round form makes it a table where you get maximum utilization of floor space—and it fits up to 12 people.
the materials used to are: robust seat/tabletop, multi-layered and dyed 12mm hpl (high pressure laminate) in 6 colours. highly uv- and weather-resistant. frame: hot galvanized steel or hot galvanized steel + textured, antrachite powder-paint.
