japanese electronics brand panasonic is showcasing its latest-air conditioning technology at milan design week. ‘air inventions’ immerses AC enthusiasts in a huge, ‘water-drop pavilion’ in the courtyard of pinacoteca de brera, home of the brera academy of fine arts. it is said, that inside this pavilion, visitors experience the cleanest, purest air in all of milan. panasonic has also designed lighting and audio, so milan design week attendees may escape the design fair air, for a fresh breath or two.

these efforts of pleasantry were developed with the intention of conveying panasonic’s newest philosophy: creating experiences and products that satisfy the intangible desires of life, subconscious feelings, and subtle senses of well-being. running simultaneously, panel discussions further inject this philosophy into the space. ‘TRANSITIONS in conversations’ are a series of talks that ponder design’s impact on culture and community.

‘in an era where diverse values co-exist, the role of design is dramatically changing,’ says panasonic director shigeo usui. ‘once you step inside this space, you can’t help but take a deep breath in. panasonic design will open its new design headquarters in the world-famous cultural capital of kyoto in april 2018, accelerating the exciting transitions currently happening throughout our organization.’

to create the immersive experience, panasonic utilized two of its most important technologies: nanoe X, an air purification ionization technology, and ‘silky fine mist’, another technology that micronizes water with high pressured air. inside the dome, visitors experience a ultra-super brightness projector — PT-RQ32K. in addition, the japanese firm used the high performance/high resolution fisheye lens — ET-D3LEF70 — to create the highly realistic 4K projection mapping.
