paper made stool light dresser and cabinet by jeroen wand

‘paper-made stool-light dresser’ material: paper, oak, marmoleum

dutch designer jeroen wand created a stool which is also a dresser and a light. the lampshade and the drawer are both made out of paper.

‘to create a product one needs a concrete production method, which includes two ingredients: a material and a technique. without a material there’s nothing to put into fabrication and without a technique a material solely remains a material. generally there are traditional combinations between a particular material and a technical method, for instance the sawing of wood and the welding of metal.’the designer says.

‘I’m looking for new combinations between materials and techniques, whilst creating interventions within traditional means of production. by working from the origin of a product, new designs -which show their source and intention- are possible. therefore, my products are the result of experiments where form and function are determined by their specific fabrication and combination.’

laminating multiple sheets of paper, the drawers become firm and strong. simultaneously, the storage boxes are given a special profile, which also forms their slides. the handles are carved and shaped out of the drawer fronts.
