in continuing her collaboration with moroso, patricia urquiola has designed ‘fergana’ and ‘rift’, presented on the occasion of milan design week 09.

‘fergana’ by patricia urquiola for moroso

‘fergana’ takes its influences from asia, expressing nomadic and elegant finishes with wide, generous seating areas. the design is embellished pillows embroidered with abstract floral motifs of traditional uzbek suzani in symbolic contrast with digital drawings of aliens and space invaders often seen in video games. it is supported by a wooden base structure that offers visual simplicity.

just like tectonic plates, which diverge, collide and overlap, creating several layers, the ‘rift’ collection presents an effect of a sliding movement and asymmetric fusion.
