patrick frey: stak for richard lampert (above) single components of ‘stak’

‘stak’ by hannover-based designer patrick frey, is a modular storage concept developed for german furniture producer richard lampert. these ‘trolleys’ can be used in all spaces, from the kitchen or office, acting as sideboards or for neatly keeping a TV or other technical equipment in place.

each base unit is made from an open bent steel construction with the top edge providing a horizontal cantilevered edge, in which shelves made from wood or lacquered MDF can easily be slid via a running joint routered along their edge. assembled without tools, the metal and wood elements fit together with a tension, resisting movement. these sliding joints allow multiple additional components to be ‘stacked’ upon one another depending on one’s needs.
