paul crofts assembles modular storage collection of timber units for isomi

paul crofts studio’s ‘assembled’ collection is the first storage range for british furniture company isomi, comprising five modular pieces in douglas fir timber. crafted with a minimal aesthetic, the collection is kept intentionally simple in form, with a clear focus on materiality and construction.

‘chamfer’, the first piece in the collection, is a system of connecting modules that lock into a wider frame

paul crofts designed the timber units to complement isomi’s existing range of metal and concrete reception desks, tables and seating, yet they can work equally well as stand-alone pieces. details are presented both at the front and the back of each piece, offering the possibility to be placed both mid-floor and against a wall or partition. the collection includes five highly flexible storage and display systems that can be stacked together.

its materials are hot rolled steel, concrete and valchromat

the simple yet refined ‘chamfer’ offers a highly flexible, interchangeable storage system

its doors and frame are made of hand-selected hot rolled steel and its legs of cast in stain-resistant concrete

perforated hot rolled steel mesh is available as an optional infill to create a transparent backdrop to the storage modules

‘stack’ is a modular stacking storage system, based on an innovative ‘U’-shaped design in which each unit relies on the component above it to complete the system

stack’s frame comes in douglas fir timber  andoffers a visual counterpoint to the unit’s legs, base frame and doors made from authentic hot rolled steel

the system is available in countless iterations, whether fully or partially open or closed, and with options for the display of documents, literature and artwork

the ‘grid’ storage system draws on isomi’s extensive experience in working with solid surface, featuring lacquered MDF with a slim and lightweight aesthetic

‘bench’ is designed as a complementary element to the ‘grid’ and ‘stack’ systems and it is composed of a simple black valcromat platform finished in matt lacquer, while its internal metal framework extends to two legs clad in stain-resistant cast concrete

the ‘360’ storage unit comprises just three components and it is designed with both open display shelves and closed storage

made from an internal carcass of black valcromat with contrasting lacquered MDF doors and an elegant chamfered handle detail, ‘360’ is ideal for creating long runs of storage, or for use as a room divider
