pedrali soul and remind chairs by eugeni quitllet innovate with elegance

just like its 13 new product announcements, pedrali’s stand at salone del mobile 2018 is inspired by architecture, art and theater. the booth, designed by calvi brambilla, is separated into seven exhibition spaces with a stage-like platform at its heart. the design not only pays tribute to the italian brand’s latest ‘good ideas’ philosophy, but also acts as both a museum display and dramatical production for the new furniture designs. these, which are each displayed in a space surrounded by light bulbs in a similar fashion to that of an actor’s dressing room from the 1980’s, all accentuate an image of refined elegance, none more so than two collaborations with eugeni quitllet, ‘soul’ and ‘remind’.

‘soul is a link between the concrete and the abstract, between the real world and that of dreams, between past and future… the unspoiled state of creation,‘ explains eugeni quitllet. made from wood and polycarbonate, the chair is a hybrid in age-old manufacturing methods and cutting-edge techniques, nature and technology, and tradition and innovation. its design, materials and ideas – of uncontaminated creativity – seem to have literally evolved seamlessly, especially when considering its structure.

forming a minimalist and flowing silhouette, the ash wood structure of the pedrali ‘soul’ chair is connected by an almost invisible seat of polycarbonate, which appears suspended. this interplay of surfaces, curves and subtle lines creates a visually striking definition. at the same time, the sections combine to create an ergonomic and superbly comfortable chair.

the pedrali ‘remind’ chair

‘remind, or call back to mind – a concept rendered in latin by the word ‘re-cordis’, meaning ‘to pass through the heart’.‘ says eugeni quitllet. the heart plays an integral role in the creation of the ‘remind’ chair, while the mind steers the production. the design reminisces the soft, sinuous curves of wooden chairs from the late 19th century, but with a universal shape, the piece complements to fit into any space and style of decor.

pushing its flexibility even further, the ‘remind’ armchair is manufactured from polypropylene, which makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. similarly, its breathable texture and design makes it airy and even lighter. furthering its functionality, as well as versatility, each element of the design has been measured to ensure total comfort and cosiness.
