noé duchaufour lawrance drapes petite friture méditerranéa lights in new colors

steering away from its renowned brightness, petite friture debuts dramatic new colorsways at IMM cologne 2019. the french brand introduces these new shades – greens, greys, blacks and whites – on some of their most famed work, including the méditerranéa collection by noé duchaufour lawrance. this color palette highlights different details of the lighting designs, even accentuating its original inspiration.

influenced by the weightlessness ‘of laundry billowing in mediterranean balconies’, noé duchaufour lawrance’s inspiration for the petite friture méditerranéa is even more apparent in its white color. it literally replicates the aesthetic of soft white linen as it is draped over a pendant. for the design, the cloth is replaced by a metal sheet that is intricately cut with a geometric pattern. light dramatically glares through these graphics, as highlighted most distinctively with the strong, clean-cut black version.

the softness of the white version references its gold colorway from petite friture’s original design. crafted from brass, the unique laced pattern on the shade made it appear like a piece of jewellery as opposed to a light. in total, the collection comprises floor lamps, table lamps and ceiling pendants.
