‘red and blue stacking vessels’ by pia wüstenberg

influenced by archaic vessel shapes, finnish-german designer pia wüstenberg continues her exploration of stacked forms with ‘blue and red stacking vessels’. each object is composed of three parts which are made using different craft processes: wood turning, ceramic throwing and glass blowing to form the functional sculptures. the individual components are positioned into one another, the wood being burned to fit into the hot glass profile, to create a single piece. the work is an extension of the designer’s previous ‘stacking vessel soldiers‘.

wüstenberg presents her ‘blue and red stacking vessels’ at venutra lambrate during milan design week 2012 (april 17th – 22nd, 2012).
