designed by anna zaboeva, and handcrafted in budapest, the philosophy of pleasemachine footwear calls for a ‘slow-fashion’ concept featuring sustainable and timeless clothing accessories. ‘slow-fashion’, like ‘slow-foods’, is a more reflective approach to minimize waste while producing high quality goods in a traditional format. while doing research for ‘the new ways of fabrics and leather utilization’, zaboeva further examined the hungarian concept of  ‘lomtalanitas’, loosely defined as a spring cleaning to reduce household waste, and has more presently been a method of re-use. this rationale was applied to the initial phases of pleasemachine. rather than discarding old attire,  garments and vintage clothes were salvaged from the streets, to be used in the first pieces of ‘ethical artisan’ footwear.

currently, the pleasemachine ‘upcycling’ technology has been improved, and each shoe is designed with its own unique character. every pair is manufactured with attention to detail by experienced craftsmen. patterns are chosen after selected clothing is passed through a hygienic treatment and the print becomes preserved in a new wearable item. the pleasemachine collection offers designs that incorporate vintage and rare silk scarfs as recycling remains the commitment to the shoe’s exclusivity. the company takes pride in conveying a strong ethical vision, while on the market as a  luxury brand. pleasemachine is in the process of providing a tailoring service to assist customers in rediscovering their own wardrobes, for custom footwear.
