prada SS24 womenswear show sees slime dripping from the deposito's pink-hued ceiling

silver PINK slime for prada’s SS24 womenswear

During the SS24 Menswear runway show, Prada filled the space with thick, gossamer-like slime pouring from the ceiling onto the steel floor, resembling a liquefied resin waterfall at the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada in Milan. This time around, the fashion house has switched to silver pink slime slowly cascading from a terracotta-colored ceiling down to a light beige-hued floor. The use of steel that was employed in the set design of Prada’s SS24 menswear collection is now gone.

The continuation of Prada’s Fluid Form and architectural theme shows up during its SS24 Womenswear as the set design presents a similar liquid experience. Unlike its SS24 Menswear counterpart, Prada’s SS24 Womenswear has a sense of continuity. The formation of the silver pink slime is linear, and it veils the audience’s view from a single position. The way the silver pink slime cascades is also different, as it funnels down from a thick to slim width.

Prada’s Fluid Form shows for SS24

As the silver pink slime serves as a backdrop for Prada’s SS24 Womenswear show in Milan, models wearing the season’s collection navigate around the set design. Diaphanous clothing complements the soft slide of the slime, and at times, cinched waists and oversized jackets in dark tones stand out against the backdrop of terracotta and beige. The contrasting colors of the set design’s floor and ceiling allow the SS24 collection to be spotlighted for the audience to see clearly.

In Prada’s fashion shows, OMA/AMO and Rem Koolhaas are known for creating the set designs. Take Prada’s FW23 show, for example, where the design team incorporated three-meter-tall chandeliers that could move up and down. Their focus lies in creating interesting textures and finishes in their set designs, as seen in Prada’s FW21 show. They might also have had a hand in designing the set for Prada’s current Fluid Form show for the SS24 Menswear and Womenswear collection, where a star of the show drips from ceiling to floor.
