swiss designer, alfredo häberli was the guest of honor for the 10th anniversary of prague designblok where he presented ‘glass music’, a special installation at designblok’s superstudio DOX.

the driving force behind ‘glass music’ was drawn from the fairy tales of the grimm brothers. the particular story in which häberli references is ‘the bremen town musicians’. the story is about a donkey, dog, cat and cock who escape from their owners and plan on becoming musicians in the town of bremen. along the way, they stumble across a house of robber’s where there is a wonderful spread of food and drink on the kitchen table. to scare the robbers in order to feast on the food, the animals place themselves on the window ledge and mount each other’s backs, forming a tower. they then begin performing music. the robbers see the animal’s silhouette in the window and become so frightened that they spring up from the table and rush out of the house. the animals enter, enjoy the food and happily live in the house, never making their way to bremen.

the installation of ‘glass music’ was the world premier of the limited edition piece which häberli designed for the křehký collection.
