in sardinia, the fireplace is the social centrepiece of every home, gathering families around its warm embrace. inspired by this prominent tradition, pretziada — a multi-disciplinary studio founded by ivano atzori and kyre chenven — in collaboration with parisian designer ambroise maggiar, have created the ceremony fireplace set. made of hand-welded wrought iron and using the rough style of antique pieces as a guide, the collection has reinvented the essentials, wasting no space on unnecessary flourish.

comprised of poker, tongs, bellows, broom, shovel, ash bucket, tool stand and two andirons, the ceremony fireplace set by ambroise maggiar and pretziada has been crafted by fratelli argiolas. the collection’s clean and modern lines contrast in a harmonious way with the hand-welding and rough finishes. its classic yet contemporary design contrasts the weight of the material with the simple and visually thin and light bars that compose it. all of the utensils can be organised around the tool stand and even inside the bucket, adding to its crisp design.

the ‘ceremony fireplace set is yet another celebration of sardinian culture, an island thought to be home to the mythical atlantis. when asked about the strongest impression of the island, french designer ambroise maggiar comments that he was amazed with ‘how fertile the unexploited know-how from the past is and how powerful it will be for the future.’
