german startup rainrider has designed a softtop cover to help cyclists and e-bikers stay dry during adverse weather conditions. the gadget is lightweight, weighing just 1.5 kg, and it can be quickly assembled and disassembled. it’s also foldable meaning the cover fits easily into backpacks or saddlebags. with this handy product, the rainrider team aims to help cycle enthusiasts stay on the road and help limit carbon dioxide emissions come rain or shine.

the rainrider softtop is designed with an aerodynamic shape to keep air resistance minimal and UV-resistant transparent panels to maintain cyclists’ road safety. fixed onto the handlebars and fork tubes, the cover follows steering movements and is less sensitive to crosswinds according to the manufacturer. the softtop shields you from the front and partially from the sides.

adjustable and transportable

the rainrider softtop is height-adjustable and can therefore be adapted to different people. the frame is made of aluminum/carbon rods and plastic connecting joints. an adjustable ventilation system prevents the window from fogging up and also provides riders with cool air. the design also features all-round reflectors to increase visibility and safety at night. once stopped, you can fold the soft top down and over the bike seat. alternatively, you can remove the cover entirely and fold it up into a bag. the company says the device is suitable for almost all bicycles. the rainrider softtop retails for €129.95.
