raw edges: booken for LEMA at salone del mobile 2013

‘booken’ – a shelf-cum-side table by raw edges

‘atmospheres’ is the theme of furniture collection italian brand LEMA is presenting at the salone del mobile 2013. focussing on how furnishings within the interior create a particular mood, the pieces they are debuting re-imagine our way of understanding objects.

raw edges explores how a book can materialize and transform its purpose. their design ‘booken’, takes the concept of the bookcase and turns it on its side, in which collectively, the spines of the hanging volumes also serve to function as a table top, in addition to a library.

the furniture piece is much like a ladder positioned horizontally, in which books are hung, their spines in turn serving as a table top
