‘ray’ is a series of pendant lamps by slovakian designer tomas kral for french brand petite friture. presented during maison et objet 2013, the series of suspended lights consists of a rolled mesh construction, which when illuminated, creates a unique diffused effect through the lace veil-like voids in the surface. typically adapted as a material for stationary office supplies and accessories, the metallic medium instead becomes a source of light, when refined and pierced. the suspended lamps feature voids as various geometric forms; graphic motifs in the tapered volume elegantly radiate, and provide a glowing atmosphere.
