the main idea for reinis ducmanis’ ‘rorschach’ has been to create a furniture that is abstract both in its function and shape. the designer has worked on an object with no obvious purpose and which does not disclose its role, thereby encouraging each user to look for it.

london based latvian designer reinis ducmanis‘ concept and visual image of this furniture is inspired by the rorschach visual psychological tests — abstract inkblot prints which are used to analyze human psychological state, characteristics and emotions. each person sees something different in these inkblot prints and that’s exactly what reinis ducmanis wanted to achieve with these objects. the designer has created a furniture that is sufficiently abstract to make people look for applications that are suitable specifically for them. for example, to store things that are used more often than other objects on daily basis but do not have any permanent place in the room: the book you are currently reading, a magazine or newspaper, or your mobile phone, wallet or a coffee cup. it can also be used as a coffee table, stand for an audio system or TV, bedside table or a bench.
