born 1931 in potenza, italy riccardo dalisi is considered to be the italian pioneer of poor design. dalisi graduated with an architectural degree from the university of naples in 1957, since then he has designed multiple buildings and products. in all his work he uses simple techniques to create objects that blur the line between art and design. dalisi redesigned the ‘neapolitan flip coffee pot’ for alessi in 1987 which is one of his most famous works to date. other companies he has worked with include zanotta, fiat, rosenthal and bisazza.

yesterday designboom was at the opening of dalisi’s ‘design ultrapoverissimo’ exhibition held at the triennale design museum, milan. featured are 40 playful tin plate objects that dalisi handmade

himself, from 1995 to present.
