french designers ronan and erwan bouroullec have developed ‘tyde’, a family of height-adjustable tables for vitra. incorporating special features to address the acoustic challenges of today’s open plan offices, tyde extends the concept of modular furniture to offer the benefits of working while standing and sitting to double workstations and conference tables. a quiet electric height adjustment motor is incorporated and concealed under the table beneath a sound-absorbing cover. in addition, the newly developed screens in acoustic polyester fleece work effectively with the cover to dampen ambient noise.

rather than having traditional workstations conceived for individual use, desks in various sizes can be outfitted to accommodate the required functions. users can choose from three height adjustment options: an electric motor for stand-up/sit-down tables and a hand crank or manual locking mechanism for seated versions. additional elements such as technical beams, various screens, computer holders and other accessories allow for further individualization.
