sabine marcelis expresses the relationship between light, color and transparency — particularly the moment of the day when the sun, clouds and sky join, creating a momentary riot of hues — in her ‘dawn light’ series. commissioned by victor hunt design-art dealer, the family of unique luminaires is made from geometric cast resin shapes embedded with a single white neon tube whose cool tone showcases the subtle manipulation of color employed; and its intersection with light. the collection of sculptural lighting objects bring an abstract tranquility and lambent atmosphere to the settings in which they are placed. the ‘dawn light’ series is on display at design days dubai 2016.
