french designer sam baron and portuguese illustrator julio dolbeth, under the invitation of
portuguese porcelain company vista alegre have come together to imagine via láctea (milky way),
a whole new porcelain tableware collection which is entirely hand-drawn.
the pieces were conceived from the assemblage of three-dimensional shapes, welled from
vista alegre’s catalogue and archives. tea-pot knobs and cup handles are intertwined with
a series of reinvented motifs derived from historical graphical elements of the porcelain institution.
technical references are expressed through means of crystal gem drawings,
representing the kaolin stone, used to make porcelain along with diverse alloys, matte and glossy,
applied to the different pieces – an imaginary constellation of objects.

the collection will be exhibited at vista alegre in lisbon as a parallel event to experimentadesign 09.
the opening is on september 10th at 6:30pm, and the exhibition will run until october 15th, 2009.
