note designs sancal la isla sofa as sanctuary of character and comfort

translating to ‘the island’, the sancal ‘la isla’ sofa aims to combat and disrupt expansive spaces of emptiness. these inhospitable and unwelcoming ‘non-places’ are instead completely transformed thanks to these landmarks of character, comfort and chic. created by note design studio, the furniture piece was first shown at the salone del mobile 2017.

first and foremost, the sancal ‘la isla’ provides relief to traditionally unfriendly areas, such as lobbies, waiting rooms and most importantly, airports. however, with its distinguished character, the sofas are not just ideal for contract spaces but residences as well. placed around the home, people are encouraged to sit upon its seductive curves, generous shapes and soft upholstery; it really is as comfortable as it looks. the three clearly defined sections enable everyone to relax on the seat in an intimate privacy, but without feeling isolated.

‘la isla’ is sancal’s second collaboration with stockholm-based note design studio, following the success of the ‘tonella’ family that was launched in 2015. the latest furniture design is available in three different sizes; 2,92 m³, 2,84 m³ and larger version set to be introduced in early 2018. although characterizing an abundance of charm through its curved form, the sofa can adorn a selection of differently textured and toned fabrics to fit a home’s interior, and rests atop a plinth that can be lacquered in a range of colors, from lemon to mango and from opal to quartz grey.
