satyendra pakhale at asia now

the work of indian designer satyendra pakhalé was shown in designboom’s ‘asia now‘ at dwell on design in los angeles. his work brings together the old and the new, combining craft and technology through forms and materials of artisan qualities, but executed in highly industrialized methods.

‘akasma’ for RSVP

‘akasma’ is a set of bent glass bowls, brays and centerpiece which can be nestled into one another. they were developed for the italian company RSVP.

‘kalpa’ vase & bowl for cor unum

created in collaboration with dutch ceramic company cor unum, ‘kalpa’ is a vessel which functions as both a vase and a bowl. it is made from glazed earthenware and is finished in light blue and white.

‘B.M. objects’

‘B.M. objects’ is a series of bell metal fruit balls which have been finished with a sand blasted surface.

‘fish chair’ for cappellini

produced by the italian manufacturer ‘cappellini‘, ‘fish chair’ is a small plastic armchair made entirely through rotational technology. the external surface is available in red, dark grey, yellow, gypsum white, blue, orange and green colors. the internal seat surface is always in white.

on show were also images illustrating art, architecture, design and the arts and crafts in india
