our notions of radiators often conjure up images of industrial tubes tucked away into the corners of a room, serving more utilitarian rather than decorative purposes. elisa giovannoni reconsiders the function of these heating devices with ‘scaletta’, a design for tubes radiatori that sees the radiator more as an architectural structure – something in which to furnish the home.

conceived for italian company tubes radiatori, the scheme of ‘scaletta’ needs no explanation. for its design, elisa giovannoni has drawn on the vision of a ladder leaning up against a wall. the radiator can be freely moved around like one as well – from the bathroom to the kitchen, living room or even the bedroom – functioning on a simple electric cable power supply that winds up on a pulley to minimize clutter.

the free-standing version of ‘scaletta’ comes with a small shelf for extra storage

made from aluminium, ‘scaletta’ comes in a range of colors and is available in two versions: wall-mounted and free standing. the wall-mounted option is available in two-sizes (H180 cm x W51 cm x D30 cm; and H135 cm x W47 cm x D30 cm); while the free-standing one is available in a H100 cm x W510 cm D29 cm measurement, and has the possibility of being fitted with a storage shelf.
