the second marimekko for finnair plane features the ‘metsänväki’ (forest dwellers) motif

 

 

 

 

marimekko continues its collaboration with finnair, which was first announced in october 2012 (see designboom’s coverage here) when the finnish company was commissioned to develop tableware and textiles for use onboard the airline’s vessels–in their business class sections–with patterns based on original marimekko motifs by maija isola. an aircraft painted with the recognizable ‘unikko’ poppy print was emblazoned on a finnair airbus 340 and revealed to officially mark the partnership.

 

now a second aircraft, this time displaying the marimekko print ‘metsänväki’ (forest dwellers) as been unveiled in celebration ofthe marimekko-designed service wear, blankets, cushions etc., which will be officially brought into use by finnair on may 15th, 2013.
