‘ru’ chair by american-born and stockholm-based industrial designer shane schneck for danish company hay was presented at maison et objet 2010 and stockholm furniture fair 2010. gathered from references of chairs in schools, lunch rooms and auditoriums, ‘ru’ is a hybrid of our collective memory and functionality. it is a wooden chair that gains its strength by cross laminating layers in the seat. this method allows for a cantilevered surface and a more robust structure. unlike conventional chairs, it is designed without the front legs allowing it be stacked on tables for easy cleaning.
