studio makkink & bey: sideseat, self contained desk and cupboard for PROOFF

‘#006 sideseat’ is a compact workstation by studio makkink & bey which offers multiple functions

furniture should adapt to its given context and user’s needs transitioning between work and leisure, public and private.  ‘#006 sideseat’ is studio makkink & bey‘s response to these requirements, which comes in the form of a compact workstation –a single piece of furniture which offers a self-contained desk, cupboard and swiveling and rocking chair. manufactured by PROOFF,the all-in-one unit offers multiple functions – a flexible space in which one can work, rest, read, write… – while still managing to remain balanced in appearance. it is meant to encourage one to interact more openly within communal work areas, but at the same time create a private situation.

the self-contained side desk double functions as a cupboard

the side desk can be left with both open and closed options for the shelves

for added comfort, the seat swivels and rocks to the sitters movement

though the unit acts as a desk, cupboard and chair, it still manages to maintain a balanced appearance
