bratislava-based designer šimon galanský introduces the minimalist, yet playful ‘sinuo chair‘ as an embodiment of his aesthetic vision and ideas into a real, physical product. drawing influence from the sinuous shape of a ‘meander’, the design is formed by simple continuous lines, generating a lightweight elegant structure with a unique form.

in order to finalize the ‘sinuo chair’, šimon galanský first completed a series of playful experimentations on black foam blocks. as a result, the new lounge chair concept impresses with its delicate turns and twists. made from thin steel rods, the design bends into a moon-like shape, welded on a triangular leg base, making for a strong, stable structure. the steel construction is powder-coated with komaxit paint, in bright orange.

the ‘sinuo chair’ is galanský’s final project for his bachelor degree at the academy of fine arts and design in bratislava, slovakia. the idea came to him during attending a workshop with eric jourdan in 2018. motivated and inspired through the design process itself, which is not always very clear and direct, the lounge chair design expresses the young designer’s aesthetic perspective and approach.
