sincedayone redesigns ‘strong and sturdy’ 1950s canvas sneakers

bulgarian design company, sincedayone, has taken canvas shoes from 1951 and given them a modern update. called ‘super special sneakers’, the reborn classics take their name from the strong and sturdy shoes that were originally created by an anonymous designer from the central modelling department in former czechoslovakia.

‘we spend a huge amount of our creative effort in the quest for a timeless formula in design and we keep a strong focus on reviving and redesigning pieces from the past that we believe can live forever. we found these sneakers in an old production book and we immediately fell in love with the idea of bringing them back to life,’  says sincedayone.

the original canvas sneakers were born in 1951

nowadays, super special sneakers are produced on the same old production line, using the same vulcanizing technology and the same great choice of natural materials. they feature heavyweight cotton canvas, high endurance lacing, vulcanized midsole and country style rubber outsole.

sincedayone has also added a specially developed water-repelling wax to protect the shoes from adverse weather conditions. originally designed for hiking, the updated super special sneakers are versatile and fit perfectly in an urban landscape too.
