milan-based design consultancy skrivo has collaborated with danish brand soft line to create the ‘halo’ seating system. the project comes from the idea of mixing and matching different cushion elements to provide a variety of configurations, ranging from a single seat easy chair, a public lounge, and a three-seat sofa that works well in different environments.

the main feature is a large backrest reminiscent of a saint’s halo. the piece grants additional comfort, but also increases privacy and improves acoustics without the need to close oneself in. the designers note, ‘one unique feature of the halo seating system is the way the backrest and seat are combined. the backrest creates the effect of a pillow that has been wedged into the seat. the fact that the backrest and seat are separate provides a high level of customization.’ the ‘halo’ system is currently was exhibited at soft line’s stands at both IMM cologne and maison & objet in paris.
