nendo has designed a new watch called ‘slice’ for a italian brand NAVA design. each of the two variations — ‘numbers’ and ‘gradations’ — appear to have been created by slicing a cylindrical piece of metal at regular intervals and at a steady pace, reminding wearers of the sections that remain after the parts have been cut away. ‘numbers’ displays the numerals 12, 3, 6, and 9 on its circular facade, while ‘gradations’ simply has a an infinite arrangement of gray dashed lines carved from the circumference. available in both a black matte and cream-colored chroma, the two minimal designs are the aesthetic visualization of the wristwatch’s purpose: a device that ‘cuts away’ time as it passes.
