produced by the linen specialists of verilin, sofie lachaert and luc d’hanis (SLLD) have developed ‘becoming rich while you sleep’, a unique, high quality belgian fabric series for the ‘masters of linen‘ and the ‘henry van de velde 2014‘ label. within the work, nothing is what it seems. the designers have robbed the bank note of its nominal value, clearing the way for your own personal value and appreciation. the familiar image of money disappears and the intrinsic beauty of the delicately colored lines remains. a woven silver wire band, like the foil strip in a bill, is embedded into each textile as a reference to the disinfecting properties and qualities of silver. although it meant to discourage falsifications, nevertheless verilin managed to translate this interplay of strokes in a digital jacquard pattern, a token of craftsmanship, tradition and technology.
